"Badawy from Kom El Dikka" is the first archival photos exhibition to take place on a street in Egypt, stretching over 700 meters within the very neighborhood where photographer Ahmed Badawi was born, lived, and worked. In collaboration with the Badawi Archive Project and the Centre d'Études Alexandrines (Cealex), the exhibition offers a unique, live experience. It displays photographs of Kom El Dikka and its surrounding areas directly within the same streets and cafés that Badawi documented with his lens in the 1960s and 1970s, establishing a direct visual dialogue between the neighborhood's past and its present reality.
This exhibition was held in the streets of Kom El Dikka neighborhood in Alexandria in 2025.

The closing exhibition of the "Anti-Archive" residency, produced by Basaria Art, The residency began with a central question: What does it mean not to collect, not to document? It evolved into a space for research and artistic reflection on the archive as a site of conflict, not merely a tool for preservation, and as a practice of deconstruction, not accumulation.
The exhibition showcases the results of two months of artistic research and experimentation across diverse media, varying in style and approach.
Curator: Marwa Ben Halim.
The exhibited works reflect multiple interpretations of the concept of the archive, ranging from deletion and concealment to distortion and rejection, as artistic and critical acts that reconsider methods of cultural and intellectual narrative.
This exhibition took place at the Basaria Art Space in Alexandria in 2025.

"'In the Presence of the Shrine'  is one of the outcomes of a scientific research project focused on documenting the shrines and Maqamat (sanctuaries) in the Lake Mariout area. The project is led by the Centre d'Études Alexandrines (CEAlex), in collaboration with photographer Samar Bayoumi, and supported by the British organization Barakat Trust.
The project relies on a cartographic study conducted by Dr. Ismail Awad, tracing the evolution of the shrines starting from the maps of the French Expedition in 1801 up to satellite imagery in 2024.
The project aims to highlight a heritage of spiritual and historical value dating back to the 14th century that is threatened with erasure, and to showcase its influence on the identity of the region and its inhabitants."
The exhibition took place at the French Cultural Center in Alexandria in 2025.

The "Visual Trilogy from the Badawy Archive"  The exhibition focuses on exploring three consecutive timelines for the photograph: the time of creation (the 1960s and 1970s), the time of long, neglected storage in the studio's basement, and the time of discovery and presentation in the present. Beyond the content of the photographs (such as rare shots of Nasser's funeral and popular weddings), the exhibition reflects on the power of time as an artistic force, presenting the damage and imperfections resulting from long-term storage as a "new aesthetic" and an artistic value that redefines the concept of the archive.
This exhibition was displayed as part of the Cairo Photo Week events in May 2025.

Boys are still training not to respond to and suppress their emotions, in order to become strong and independent. But it hurts the boys, and later the men.
They feel guilty when they have feelings that are considered feminine or weak, and do not feel connected to the people around them.
Men throw themselves in risky activities, take less care of their health, commit suicide more and die earlier than women. This is an individual problem, but also a social one.
There is a direct correlation between feeling modesty in men, feeling "impermissible", being like a "girl", and the outbreak of violence. Still, society has a hard time accepting empathy as masculine strengths, and women have a role to play in making this stereotype of men firmly entrenched, so I think we need to re-engage the concept of masculinity.

"Him Too"
Strong, sturdy, responsible, rough, unbreakable, never cries, never gets hurt … That is what we know about men. This image takes hold of our perception of men until it becomes a stereotype: a rigid, unemotional, and inhumane mould into which men are born. Men are raised to be responsible and dependable, as if it were a process of manufacturing creatures with special abilities for later use. However, men are humans too; they go through moments of weakness and defeat. They might be frail and unable to face what they are going through
Ahmad Nagy Draz had an opportunity, because of his work as a street photographer, to capture these spontaneous moments of frailty. The photographs here unravel what is happening in men’s secret interior, and not the preconceived image of what a man should be like.
