Ahmed Nagy Draz, visual storyteller and archivist, based in Alexandria, Egypt. His work focuses on gender, masculinity, the city dynamics and urban changes.

Nagy’s work evolved through the past 15 years. He covered the Egyptian revolutions in 2011 and 2013 and the Gaza war in 2012. These experiences made him move away from classic photojournalism and shifted his concern towards his close environment to embrace and celebrate his community and culture. His practice is based on experimental photography while keeping the documentary ethics. His aim is to raise questions, focusing on emotions, by challenging the mediums, materials, and techniques.

As an archivist, he collaborates with research centers such as “Arab Urban Development institute” and “the American University in Cairo” on building modern archives for the city of Alexandria, to be used in social and political research and studies. Also in 2020, together with other two Egyptian photographers, he co-founded the “Badawy Archive Project”, It's a rescue and showcase project of the archival material of Alexandrian photographer Ahmed Badawy from the 1940’s to the 2000’s. Nagy has curated archiving and research photo exhibitions.
